"Come sit here with me and we'll learn all this stuff together"
I struggled as a single mom through my own college experience at the University of Southern Maine School of Nursing, while working as a CNA/nurse's aide and began thinking about how to innovate holistic learning and effective encouragement for future students like myself, with the much-needed flexibility and support to also accommodate a student's job and family responsibilities. So I went back to school for a master's degree in business management toward a vision of building an innovative, supportive, healthcare training platform and here it is- please join us!
April is our new CRMA instructor! April handles our Lewiston area and is a wife and mother of two girls, plus a cat and a Great Dane. She and her husband own a landscaping company, based on their 6 acre farm in Turner, Maine. She joined the US Army at age 18 and and attended training to become a combat medic and LPN, with various duties in med-surg, orthopedics and burn unit at SAMMC in San Antonio, Texas. She finished her BSN degree at a The University of Maine at Augusta.
"Thank you for getting to know me- I am passionate about nursing and cannot wait to meet you!"
"My mom here has little sense of design, so I try to make everything look good for you guys"
" I have the opportunity to help our group home residents with their fears, calm them down by speaking with them as they are often alone with no one to talk to. The nurses and others are all so busy. I have the ability to develop a relationship seeing them 2 to 4 times a day for meds and making them feel that there is someone who cares. I can be a friendly face without being the bearer of any bad news and helping them feel better. As people we all need to feel important and worthy of being cared about. In this small way, with a soft touch, giving medicine that makes them feel better, a kind smile and voice asking about them can make a difference.
It does not take much schooling, only a big heart to have compassion and determination to make a difference, one person at a time.”
Need a break from studying???
Here are our "tech kids" Raechel and Ryan who help with the tech stuff, plus they are good dancers!
